Tournament Rules

The intent of this tournament is to promote overall good fellowship, promote fishing, as well as to benefit the Saint Louis Covenant School Development Fund. Honesty and fair play are essential to the success and competition in any event and must be followed at all times. Any disputes before, during, or after the tournament will be brought to the attention of and addressed by the following rules committee:

  • REGISTRATION: All boats must be registered with the Saint Louis Fishing Tournament committee in writing by May 16th, 2018 at 9:00 PM. Each boat will designate a captain who will sign the boat/team entry form and take responsibility for his/her team. Each Angler must be at least 9 years of age. The tournament committee reserves the right to extend the deadline. The tournament committee reserves the right to refuse entry of any person, group or boat.
  • FORMAT: This is a boat tournament. Every team/boat must participate in the Three Dolphin Contest and pay a $500.00 entry fee. This fee will allow each boat to have a four angler maximum limit; however, additional anglers may be added to a boat for a $125.00 fee per additional angler. All proceeds of the Three Dolphin Contest will benefit the STLCS Development Fund and is due no later than May 18th, 2018. Each team/boat will have the opportunity to participate in the Calcutta Contest for an additional $100.00 per boat. 20% of the proceeds from the Calcutta Contest will benefit the STLCS Development Fund.
  • EQUIPMENT: This is a rod and reel tournament only. The tackle is unlimited and live bait may be used. Power driven reels of any kind are prohibited. This includes motor, hydraulic, or electronically driven reels or any device that gives the angler an unfair advantage.
  • BOAT PROXIMITY: After the tournament begins, two or more boats congregating (close enough to pass fish) will be disqualified at the weigh-in station at No Name Harbor. The only exception is in the case of an emergency. Mechanical breakdown - your boat's condition and efficiency is equally as important as your fishing skills. All teams/boats are responsible for getting their fish to the weigh station aboard their own boat.
  • TOURNAMENT START/STOP: The tournament will begin at official sunrise for May 18, 2018 and lines must be out of the water by 3:00 PM. Contestants may leave from any marina and do NOT have to check in anywhere prior to start time. The tournament committee reserves the right to amend the start and finish times of the tournament and will use good faith and judgment to ensure a successful tournament for all participants.
  • WEIGH-IN: The scale will be positioned at the No Name Harbor, Key Biscayne, FL (25° 40' 36'' N, 80° 08' 46'' W)and will officially open at 3:00 PM the day of the tournament. Only the captain (or a designee) will be allowed at the scale. This angler will be accompanied by a weight official and will only be allowed to weigh a maximum of 4 fish. The scales will officially close at 4:15 PM the day of the tournament. (I.E. you must be at the scale or in line to have your fish weighed by 4:15 PM). Awards, food, beverages and festivities will follow the weigh-in. In the case of a tie, the captain that weighs his/her fish first will be declared the winner.
  • BOUNDARIES: There are no boundaries to the North or South of No Name Harbor. The boundary to the East of No Name Harbor is no further than 30 nautical miles.
  • WEATHER: The tournament does not provide a weather committee and it is a captain's choice tournament. All team members, captains, boat owners and all other participants are responsible to determine that their craft is sea-worthy and are advised and encouraged to be familiar with the local weather conditions and forecasts to determine if the conditions permit the safety of the boat, crew, anglers, and guests to proceed to departure to sea and return in a safe and prudent manner. The tournament committee reserves the right to postpone the tournament and use the back-up to be determined.
  • PRIZES AND CASH AWARDS: The winner of the Three Dolphin Contest will be the team/boat that submits the heaviest three Dolphins at the weigh-in. Prizes will be awarded as follows: the 1st - $1,000, 2nd - $500, and 3rd - $250 place teams - all courtesy of one of our sponsors. 80% of the proceeds generated in the Calcutta Contest will be awarded to the captain that weighs the heaviest Dolphin, Kingfish, Wahoo or Tuna. In the case of a tie, the captain that weighs his/her fish first will be declared the winner.
  • FEDERAL AND STATE REGULATIONS: The weight and/or length of the eligible fish submitted for weigh-in is subject to the state of Florida and/or federal laws. All tournament boats must possess current and valid Florida Saltwater Fishing licenses and any other permits required by applicable law at the time of weigh-in. Any team without valid permits and/or licensing are in violation of state and/or federal law and may have their fish disqualified at the time of weigh-in.
  • WAIVER DISCLAIMER: It is expressly understood that the participants in this tournament enter at their own risk and the Saint Louis Fishing Tournament Directors, Officers, Tournament Sponsors, and Committee and all other persons connected directly or indirectly with the operation of said tournament, shall be exempt from any liability what so ever for liable, slander, loss, damage, negligence, harm, injury, or death suffered by any participant, entrant, vessel and equipment, companions and guests, boat captains, mates, crewmembers, which may occur during or in conjunction with this tournament. It is also expressly understood that the Saint Louis Fishing Tournament shall be exempt from any liability what so ever for liable, slander, loss, damage, negligence, harm, injury, or death suffered by any participant, entrant, vessel and equipment, companions and guests, boat captains, mates, crewmembers while at the No Name Harbor house. By signing the official tournament registration form, the boat owner, captain and mate(s), anglers and guests consent that the tournament may use without payment or restriction photographs and/or video footage, in which he/she may appear for any purpose what so ever, including but not limited to resale, advertising, commercial or promotional material.
  • PROTEST: Any protest must surface verbally at the time of incident, at the weigh-in station.
  • PARTICIPANTS: Any and all participants entering the tournament agree that all decisions made by the tournament committee shall be binding and final in any manner requiring their action.
